The start of a new year brings a new lineup of officers to the Iowa Freedom of Information Council.
Allison Smith, news director of KCCI-TV in Des Moines, moves up to become president of the Council’s board of trustees. She succeeds Carol Hunter, executive editor of The Des Moines Register, who served as president of the board during 2023.
Adam Carros, news director of KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, becomes first vice president of the board.
Trevis Mayfield of Maquoketa becomes second vice president. Mayfield is president of Sycamore Media, a family-owned company that publishes newspapers in Bellevue, De Witt, Keosauqua, Maquoketa, Morning Sun, New London, Wapello and West Burlington.
