KCCI’s Busiek becomes FOI Council president

Dave Busiek, the news director of KCCI-TV in Des Moines, has been named president of the Iowa Freedom of Information Council.

Busiek replaces Jim Boyd, who has stepped down as president as he prepares to retire this month as news director of WHO Radio in Des Moines.

Boyd, who has been an officer of the FOI Council for three years, will be joining the staff of Optimists, an international service organization.

Busiek’s selection as president was ratified by the executive committee of the FOI Council’s board of trustees.

Busiek will serve as the council’s president until October, when a new president will be elected during the council’s annual meeting.

KCCI was one of the founding members of the Iowa FOI Council, and Busiek has represented the television station on the FOI Council’s board of trustees for many years.
